The UK’s Immigration White Paper Spells Major Changes: How Employers Can Prepare
The UK Prime Minister made headlines launching an Immigration White Paper that aims to reduce UK immigration further, link training domestic workers to recruiting from abroad, and reduce work immigration for all but the most highly skilled candidates. Presenters will discuss what employers who might need to bring talent to the UK can do to prepare for and mitigate the changes outlined in the white paper.
The speakers will discuss and provide solutions to the main changes affecting employers, including:
- The skill level requirement for sponsoring skilled workers from abroad is set to increase, and 171 jobs will no longer qualify
- Those already on the skilled worker route may still extend visas, change employer and take supplementary employment
- Some jobs that do not qualify as skilled workers may qualify for a new Temporary Shortage List, but it’s limited in scope
- Increases planned for minimum salary thresholds and the Immigration Skills Charge
- Five-year route to settlement is set to double, with opportunities to increase or decrease the time
Our speakers, UK immigration consultants Vanessa Ganguin, Ross Kennedy and Ben Maitland will cover:
- How HR teams should forward plan
- What employers can do to reassure their workforce
- Who will be affected
- How recruiters may want to change hiring strategies
- Ways employers can mitigate these changes and save money
- Keeping up with compliance in the face of increasing penalties and sanctions
- Lobbying and workforce strategies necessary to protect businesses and their sectors
