Catherine A. Rombeau is a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team and is based in New Hampshire. As a brief writer assigned to single plaintiff litigation matters, she is lead LCS Counsel who formulates and executes briefing strategy for cases. She evaluates and selects legal authority that supports the facts and circumstances of each case and prepares substantive briefs and motions, including complex dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, discovery motions and briefings concerning other strategic issues.
Catherine has successfully represented employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, and the Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission. She has experience advising employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including litigating claims arising under federal and state laws, such as:
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII)
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
- The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- The Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
- The Connecticut Human Rights and Opportunities Act (HROA)
- Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Act
- Discrimination and retaliation
- Wrongful discharge, defamation and related state torts
Prior to joining Littler, Catherine taught law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She served as a law clerk to Hon. C. Darnell Jones, II and Hon. Marvin J. Katz, both of the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She previously practiced labor and employment law with another nationally recognized law firm. While in law school, she served as a staff editor on the Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.
